KATHMANDU, Aug 30: The police on Monday arrested two leaders of New Age Network (NAN), the organization spearheading Tibetan movement in the capital, on the eve of the Tibetans´ Democracy day due on September 2.

The police arrested NAN president Kelsang Nordup, 33, and central committee member Tashi Dawa, 23. Nordup has been arrested thrice over the last three years during the Tibetan demonstrations held in the capital and sent to preventive detention, and each time released by the verdict of the Apex Court.

The police arrested them while they were allegedly pasting anti-China posters for the September 2 demonstrations at Bauddha. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Govinda Pariyar, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle Bauddha, both have been booked on public offense charges.

“We also seized from them some crucial documents about anti-Chinese activities,” he added.

NAN is the main youth faction of the Tibetan refugees frequently staging anti-Chinese activities in the capital.
