A joint market monitoring team had inspected canteens in Singhadurbar on 20 and had ordered them to embrace hygienic food production process, stop selling unlabeled food and stop electricity theft.

These two canteens were found serving unhygienic food and selling unlabeled food products when the market monitoring team visited them again on Friday.

Hari Narayan Belbase, director of DoCSM, said the monitoring team ordered closure of canteen at Ministry of Forest and Land Conservation run by Arjun Prasad Dhungana as it was not abiding by the instructions given on May 20. He further added that the eatery will remain closed until its owner produces agreement letter for operating canteen, display menu board and stop electricity theft.

The canteen at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers was closed as its owner, Yam Bahadur Karki, also failed to implement the monitoring team´s instructions, according to Belbase.

The team on Friday also inspected the canteen at Ministry of Industries run by Som Maya Tamang. The team found that the eatery was in operation without signing agreement letter with the industry ministry. It has asked owner of the factory to furnish agreement letter to operate the canteen at the department within seven days.
