Two Rautes die, head of community injured

DAILEKH, Aug 2: Two persons of endangered Raute community died on Saturday in Dailekh district. Those deceased are 45-year-old wife of assistant Mukhiya - head of community - En Bahadur Shahi and nine-year-old boy. [break]



Shahi said his wife died of chest related problem and abdominal chronic whereas the boy was died after a swollen river swept him away. Shahi said name of those deceased could not be disclosed.



As per the migrating tradition after the death of a member of their community, the community has migrated to Deuthan of Bhairikalikathum-8 from the jungle of Kusapani.



Likewise, Mukhiya Mahin Bahadur Shahi was seriously injured in an accident.



Shahi met with an accident when he came out for urinating during the night time a week back. He has sustained deep injuries in backbone, head and legs. Shahi is undergoing treatment in a local medical.



Lack of consciousness, traditional customs and conservative beliefs, Rautes are obliged to loss their lives due to absence of medicines and treatment.



Population of Rautes has been decreasing drastically and reached only 200 that was some 300 about five years back. Exact number of Rautes has not fixed yet as they deny to make public the name and number of their members.
