Two people stranded in Gorkha snow rescued

Kathmandu, March 23: Two people from East Nawalparasi who got stuck in the snow while going to Larke Pass located in Chumanubri rural municipality-1 of Gorkha have been rescued safely.

Kathmandu, March 23: Two people from East Nawalparasi who got stuck in the snow while going to Larke Pass located in Chumanubri rural municipality-1 of Gorkha have been rescued safely.


A team of security personnel rescued 26-year-old Saurabh Khanal and his friend Anita Ghale Gurung, 26, who were trapped in the snow since Wednesday evening in East Nawalparasi.

They went out for a walk on Tuesday. But the security personnel got the information about the problem only on Wednesday evening. A rescue team was mobilized immediately.


Chief District Officer of Gorkha, Dineshsagar Bhusal said that they were found in a difficult place in Chumanubri Rural Municipality and rescued. They said that a Nepali army helicopter was sent to bring Gorkha headquarters from there.


"There is information that they were safe until they were found. We got information that they were brought to the Guest house and given soup. We have not been able to contact the rescue team," Bhusal said.


According to Bhusal, it is not clear how they reached such a difficult place.
