Two nabbed for swindling Rs 110m with fake UK jobs

Police arrested two men for defrauding millions of rupees from individuals by falsely promising them employment in the United Kingdom.

KATHMANDU, June 10: Police arrested two men for defrauding millions of rupees from individuals by falsely promising them employment in the United Kingdom.



They apprehended Laxman Parajuli, 44, of Ratuwamai Municipality-10, Morang, and Arunraj Sharma, 47, of Sabaila Municipality-12, Dhanusha, from Narephant, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, according to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.

Investigators received complaints that the duo swindled 38 people out of Rs 110.697 million. "In some cases, they extorted up to Rs 5 million from a single person. Both suspects had gone into hiding after collecting the money," said Police Superintendent Kaji Kumar Acharya, the office spokesperson.


Parajuli had been living in Saraswati Nagar, Kathmandu-16, and Sharma in Narephant, Kathmandu-32. Police had previously arrested Parajuli's wife in connection with the case.
