Two killed in landslide in Gulmi, one missing

GULMI, July 3: A landslide in Gulmi killed two children on Thursday night. A man has gone missing in the incident.


Suraj Saru (18 months old) and Apicha Khatri (Seven years old) of Isma Rural Municipality-1, were killed in the landslide which occurred after heavy rainfall on midnight of Thursday, according to the District Police Office, Gulmi.

Similarly, Bhagirath Ghimire of Musikhot Municipality-2 has gone missing after the hotel where he had taken shelter was washed away by a flood in the Nisti River.


Meanwhile, Ishawri Khatri, the mother of deceased Apicha Khatri, was rescued alive six hours after the incident on Friday morning by the locals.


The landslide has displaced more than a dozen families and many have sustained injuries.


According to Chief District Officer Bharat Kumar Sharma, rescue teams of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been mobilized in the area to rescue and find the whereabouts of the missing individuals.
