Two killed, 14 injured in accidents

RAUTAHAT, Feb 11: Two people died in separate accidents in Rautahat district on Sunday. A nine-year-old boy died after being hit by a bus at Chandranigahapur in Rautahat district on Monday.



The bus had hit Ahmad Jabir´s son Mohamad Ekrammul Haq along the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section on Sunday evening. He died at a Birgunj hospital in the course of treatment on Monday morning, police said. [break]



Police have impounded the bus while the driver is absconding.



Following the death, the kin of the deceased blocked the East-West Highway at Chandranigahapur for a few house on Monday morning. the highway opened after the Area Police Office agreed to help arrange monetary compensation for the family of the deceased and punish the culprit.



In another accident in the district, a man died Sunday night when he was hit by a vehicle with unidentified number plate at Judibela VDC-9 in the district along the East-West Highway, reported the APO. Police said the deceased is a man of around 55 and his identity has yet to be ascertained.



Likewise, a police vehicle, which was escorting Prime Minister Baburam Bhattrai has met with an accident on Monday in Chitwan district.



After attending a function at Balkumari Kanya Higer Secondary School in Narayanghat, Prime Minister Bhattarai was going to the Bharatpur airport when the police vehicle met with accident leaving 14 police personnel. Police said the injured are receiving treatment at Bharatpur Medical College and Chitwan Medical College.
