KATHMANDU, Nov 12 : The Alliance of International Science Organisations in the Belt and Road Region has elected the Tribhuvan University as member of its governing board.
A six-member delegation led by Vice-Chancellor of the TU, Prof Dr Tirtha Raj Khaniya, had attended a three-day conference held in Beijing of China from November 3, where the Alliance was established.
The Alliance has prioritized joint research in various issues including long-term development of Belt and Road region, exchange of cooperation in scientific and constructive research sector, exchange of information and technology.
Associate Professor at TU Central Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Dr Binod Dawadi, said that a total of 37 universities and science academies of Belt and Road region had participated in the conference. Out of 37 founding members of the Alliance, nine academic and scientific institutions have been selected in the governing board.
Chinese Academy of Sciences has been elected as the chair for first two-year term while Russian Academy of Sciences and Pakistan Academy of Sciences were elected the co-chair.
