MAKAWANPUR, Sept 30: Hundreds of container trucks have been lined up in Pathaliya Industrial Area of Birgunj district in lack of work. The prolonged banda by UDMF and recent economic blockade imposed by India has deprived them of any work, truck entrepreneurs said.

Shankar Bista, secretary of Terai Transportation Association informed that more than 800 trucks owned by locals of Pathaliya alone are forced to sit idle."This has forced truck entrepreneurs to take bank loans for livelihood. Also, drivers are having difficulties paying wages to their assistants," added Bista.

Various big and small industries in Pathaliya incuding Hulas Steel, Jagadamba Steel, Hama Steel, Salimar Cement, Surya Nepal, Dabar Nepal, and Bishokarma Cement among others are in the verge of closure due to prolonged banda of the UDMF. This has further deprived trucks of employment.
