Truck driver shot for defying banda in Gorkha

POKHARA, April 7: A group of about seven or eight people shot a truck driver in Gorkha on Monday for defying the banda (general) called by small communist parties, police said.



The driver, Prem Bahadur Adhikari, was heading to Gorkha Bazar from Arubari when the assailants shot at him at Melbishauni of Nareshwar at around 9 p.m.



The assailants shot him on the chest. They also looted Rs 51,000, mobile phone and some documents from Adhikari.



According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Singh Basnet, the attackers beat Adhikari before shooting him for defying the banda.



The injured driver is being treated at the Gorkha hospital.
