The strike crippled life across the nation as only a few vehicles operated.[break]

Police arrested ´1,000 cadres´ from various parts of the capital for trying to obstruct traffic as part of their chakka jam, according to NEFIN.

NEFIN called for nationwide transport strike to "draw the attention of the political parties to write the constitution", it claimed. Life has been severely affected due to this chakka jam even though the presence of strike enforcers is minimal. People have been forced to walk to their destinations, including hospitals.

The strike was enforced with just a day´s notice. On Saturday, NEFIN organized a masal demonstration in the capital with very few participants.
