KATHMANDU, June 29: Transport entrepreneurs and taxi drivers organized a demonstration with their vehicles in Sitapaila, Kathmandu, on Thursday. The participants expressed their grievances by conducting a vehicle procession along the ring road, showcasing their concerns.
The demonstration led to disruptions in traffic flow when protesters occupied one lane of the Kalanki-Balaju section road. Bhuvan Sangam, the in-charge of the Nationalist Taxi and Drivers Association, highlighted the objectives of the protest, which includes calls for the prohibition of red number plate vehicles from transporting passengers and the cessation of online taxi bookings.

Furthermore, the demonstrators demanded the provision of dedicated parking stands, the revocation of the government's decision to phase out 20-year-old vehicles, and the differentiation between private vehicles and rental vehicles in terms of services provided.
The participants expressed their discontent by chanting slogans, asserting that the government's policies and decisions are infringing upon their right to livelihood.
