Tragic landslide in Kedarnath Gaurikund, India claims several live, many still are missing

JUMLA, Aug 5: A devastating landslide in Kedarnath Gaurikund, India, has resulted in the loss of several lives and left several individuals missing, including seven members of a single household from Patarasi Rural Municipality-3 of Jumla.

JUMLA, Aug 5: A devastating landslide in Kedarnath Gaurikund, India, has resulted in the loss of several lives and left several individuals missing, including seven members of a single household from Patarasi Rural Municipality-3 of Jumla.


As of now, the authorities have identified 13 victims of the landslide, but the search for missing individuals continues. Among the missing are seven members of one household, namely Amrit Bohra (27), his wife Anita Bohra (29), their eldest daughter Saliba Bohra (11), Sahili daughter Pinky Bohora (9), Alisa Bohora (7), Samsal Bohora (4), and one and a half-year-old Wakil Bohra. All were residents of Patarasi Rural Municipality-3 Chauragaon.

In addition to the members of the aforementioned household, three other individuals from the same village are also reported missing. Sukram Rawat (43) and his son Zor Rawat, along with Bam Bohora (44), are among those missing. 


Moreover, Dhanraj Budha and Chandra Kami from Patarasi Rural Municipality - 2 Peregaon, along with their son Lal Bahadur Kami, remain missing, as confirmed by Purna Singh Bohora, Chairman of Patarasi Rural Municipality.


Efforts to locate and rescue the missing individuals have been initiated, said the Chief District Officer of Jumla, Jayakumar Ghimire.
