Trade treaties will be signed only if India agrees to provisions: PM

KATHMANDU, AUG 18: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said on Tuesday that he would sign two trade-related treaties with India provided the latter agreed to terms and conditions in the treaties.


Talking to reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport before he flew to New Delhi for a week-long India visit, the prime minister said that Nepal would sign two treaties -- Trade Treaty, and Treaty to Control Unauthorized Trade -- with India only if the both the countries agree on the provisions of the treaties. [break]



"It is a goodwill visit," the prime minister said before embarking on his first official visit since he became Prime Minister in May.



He further said that Nepal would not sign an agreement on Pancheswor project with India as the project still needs homework. He added that issue of border would feature during bilateral talks with Delhi.
