NAWALPARASI, Feb 1: Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokhrel today pointed out tourism as an important way to carry out economic development activities of the country.
"Alongside tourism, agriculture, water resources and industry development are chief sectors for country's development," he said, adding that the government was at work to make laws toward that end. He was speaking at the second national workshop organised here by the Homestay Association Nepal.

On the occasion, he lauded the community homestay service as helping people become self-employed and creating job opportunities. The DPM said the federal government was ready to amend existing policies relating to the service if need be.
The workshop aims to find ways of increasing, promoting and developing homestay service and developing tourism in both rural and urban areas. The three days seminar has been attended by representatives from around 250 homestay business community.
