Timbu Pokhari drawing more tourists

TIMBU POKHARI, Sept 13: Timbu Pokhari, the famous touristic destination in eastern Nepal, attracts thousands of trekkers annually. There has been a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting the place, of late. The place also holds a high religious significance.     

A beautiful pond on the lap of the Himalayas that lies on the border of Taplejung and Panchthar districts is grabbing staggering number of tourists. As the number of trekkers is swelling, the popularity of the place is also increasing day by time.

Beautiful sceneries while trekking, religious belief along with the increasing popularity of the place are the reasons for the arrival of more tourists. 

It takes two days on foot to reach Timbu from Chyangthapu, the starting point of Mid-hill Highway. Road transportation to the place is unavailable.

The pond that lies on the border of Kalikhola of Taplejung and Falaicha of Paachthar is attracting more tourists, said a local Khadag Bahadur Bhandari. 

“The importance of Timbu Pokhari is increasing annually. The number of tourists is also escalating. The place is really beautiful,” Bhandari told Republica Online. 

The people from different places of eastern region, Kathmandu, India along with other countries come to visit Timbu Pokhari. The trekkers enjoy mesmerizing scenes of the pond and virgin landscapes of the places. The tall majestic mountains attracts all of them. 

Timbu Pokhari is also known as Bishnu Pokhari. Most of the people travel to Laxmi Pond of Sikkim, India from Timbu. 

People are found observing beautiful mountains like Kumbakarna, the 32nd highest mountain in the world.
