Tiger Tops, EFG off to winning start

CHITWAN, Nov 28: Tiger Tops Tigris of Denmark, Tiger Tops Nepal and EFG of Switzerland started the 30th edition of the International Elephant Polo Competition with wins at Meghauli of Chitwan on Monday.



Tiger Tops Tigris of Denmark registered a 7-6 victory over WEPA Legend of Hong Kong in the first match played at Meghauli airport. [break]



According to the rule of elephant polo, experienced teams have to gift goals to new teams. Tigris gifted five goals to WEPA in the beginning, but WEPA was able to score only one goal during the match. Tigris scored seven goals to seal the victory.



Tiger Tops Nepal thrashed Pukka Chukka 7-3 after gifting three goals to the latter at the start of the match. In the last match of the day, defending champion EFG of Switzerland defeated Genghis Khan of Mongolia 11-9. EFG had gifted five goals, to which Genghis Khan added four more for a total of nine goals.



Meanwhile, National Park and Refty Khukuri of England settled for a draw. National Park had gifted five goals in the beginning of the match.
