KATHMANDU, April 20: A two-day third meeting of the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) has begun here from today.
The TIFA agreement was signed between Nepal and the US on April 15, 2011 with an objective to enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
The meeting has aimed to facilitate the promotion of Nepali products like pashmina, carpet, handicrafts and services in the US markets as well as attracting American investment to Nepal.
Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce, Naindra Prasad Upadhyay, while opening the meeting, hoped that the meeting will help reach Nepalese products to the markets in the USA.
Similarly, speaking in the meeting, US ambassador to Nepal Alaina B Teplitz assured that the US government will facilitate to reach Nepalese productions in US.
High-ranking officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Investment Board and Department of Food Technology and Quality Control among others are attending the meeting.
The high-ranking officials from the concerned government bodies of the US government are also attending the meeting. RSS
