KATHMANDU, April 30: In a bid to seek a way out to the ongoing political deadlock, senior leader of the three major political parties held a meeting at Shangri-La Hotel in Lazimpat on Friday afternoon.
Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice Chairmen Mohan Baidya and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai from Unified CPN (Maoist), Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, Bimalendra Nidhi, Krishna Sitaula from Nepali Congress and Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal, Ishwor Pokharel and Bharat Mohan Adhikari of CPN-UML were present in the meeting.[break]
"We discussed on the six-point agenda in the meeting. We will sit for the talks again in the evening after holding internal parleys in our respective parties," Dahal told reporters while emerging from the meeting at Shangri-La.
The meeting was focused particularly on ending the present political deadlock and avoiding any confrontation between the ruling parties and the Maoists, said Khanal. Poudel, who is also the NC parliamentary party leader, said the leaders are for seeking a solution in package.
The meetings of the ruling CPN-UML have been postponed owing to the ongoing tripartite meeting. UML standing committee meeting was scheduled for Friday morning while the politburo meeting in the afternoon, informed a UML leader to Republica.
