Following the recent ‘Gen Z’ movement, several applications for party registration were filed. Among them, the Commission has granted recognition to three new parties — the Shram Sanskriti Party led by Harkaraj Rai, the Nepali Communist Party coordinated by Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and the Gatisheel Loktantrik Party led by Birendra Basnet. Prior to this, 124 parties had already been recognized by the EC.
Party registration is a regular process, the EC stated. It has already issued a public notice inviting recognized parties to file applications between November 17 and 27 for participation in the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5. The final number of parties contesting the election will only be confirmed after November 27.
