Three including NSP-A leader arrested

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Police have arrested three persons including a senior leader of Sarita Giri-led Nepal Sadbhawana Party from various parts of capital on charge of illegally possessing arms. The arrested were allegedly in extortion, lootings, kidnapping and spreading terror among ordinary public.



Superintendent of Police (SP) Nawaraj Silwal, chief of Metropolitan Police Range Office, Kathmandu, said the arrested have been identified as Bikash Kumar Tiwari, 37, of Rajbiraj Municipality-7, Saptari, Bikash Shrestha, 19, of Touthali VDC-5, Sindhupalchowk and Anil Khadka, 24, of BishnuVDC-9, Kathmandu.



Police have recovered a Pulsar motorcycle (Ba 29 Pa 4348) and U.S.A-made pistol one each from the arrested Shrestha and Khadka. Likewise, one revolver was found in possession with Tiwari.



Tiwari told journalist that he is holding the portfolio of joint-general secretary of NSP-A. Earlier, he also served as office secretary of NSP-A. He was arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-35, Mahadevsthan area.



SP Silwal said they have begun investigation. “We are currently seeking to know who are behind supplying arms and people in nexus with them,” he said, addressing a press conference at his office.
