Archaeologist Howard Carter opened the chamber tomb of the Egyptian king Tutankhamen. The Egyptian ruler was buried in an elaborate tomb with several valuables that had remained intact for about 3000 years when Carter entered the tomb’s chambers.

Dr. William C. DeVries implanted an artificial heart in Murray P. Haydon. Hudson, who lived 16 months after the transplant, was the third person to get a permanent heart transplant.
February 20, 1965
The lunar probe, Ranger 8 was launched by NASA to obtain pictures of the moon’s surface. The probe sent about 7,000 photos before crashing. The photos aided the space missions like Apollo later.

U.S. President Richard Nixon arrived in China for his week-long visit. This was a historic visit that symbolized the development of a normal relationship between China and the U.S.
