KATHMANDU, May 16: Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey appointed tourism entrepreneurs Kumar Mani Thapaliya and Narendra Dev Bhatt as members of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
He made the appointments through a ministerial decision on Thursday and handed them their appointment letters on Friday. Thapaliya and Bhatt will serve a three year term as the Board of Directors.
The Ministry of Tourism announced that it appointed Thapaliya and Bhatt to fill the positions vacated after the tenure of former board members Milan Devkota and Madan Acharya ended. Devkota and Acharya's term expired on February 18, and the board had two vacant seats since then.

Newly appointed board member Thapaliya serves as the president of the Nepal Association of Tours and Travel Agents (NATTA), while Bhatt heads Heritage Tours and Travel as its managing director.
The executive committee of the NTB includes 11 members. As per the structure, the government appoints five members from the public sector and five from the private sector, excluding the CEO. The Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation chairs the NTB.
Kamal Prasad Sapkota serves as the vice-chairperson of the NTB. The structure includes the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Director General of the Department of Immigration, the Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, and the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal as ex-officio members.
Rishiram Bhandari and Rajendra Bahadur Lama represent the private sector as board members. The NTB designates its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as the member secretary.
