KATHMANDU, August 6: The Task Force of the ruling alliance formed earlier to draft a Common Minimum Program (CMP) of the government’s day-to-day operation handed over its draft to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba amidst a special function on Friday. Top leaders of the ruling parties and the Task Force members were present at the function organized at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Baluwatar.
The CMP is expected to guide the smooth functioning of the government in consensus with all coalition partners. The CMP includes various issues including priorities of the government, policies and programs of the coalition government, promotion of national interests, implementation of federalism and strengthening federal democratic system. This also includes guarantee of law and order situation, good governance and ethical conduct, completion of peace process and economic policy and programs.

Social transformation, immediate relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation, environmental balance and international relations are among the issues included in the CMP. Ruling party leaders had earlier said that the Cabinet will get a full shape only after the finalization of the CMP.
Sources close to Prime Minister Deuba said the expansion of the cabinet was delayed also because of the indecision of the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the government over whether to join the new government. Although the Nepal-led faction is still in a dilemma over whether to join the government, Prime Minister Deuba is planning to give full shape to the Cabinet any time keeping in view of the criticisms he has courted over his failure to give full shape to the Cabinet even weeks after the formation of the new government.
