KATHMANDU, Sept 10: President of Rolpa Municipality chapter of Nepal Tarun Dal, the youth wing of Nepali Congress, Rohit Pun, 29, was shot dead on Sunday.

According to an eyewitness, Pun, a resident of Sunilsmriti Rural Municipality-4, was shot dead by Dev Bahadur Gharti, 28, at about 4:30 pm at Rest Point Restaurant after an argument broke out between them over a meal in the same restaurant. 

Gharti, a former Maoist cadre had previously been arrested in Ropla on numerous occasions for violence. He was caught by the Area Police Office of Sulichaur in possession of a pistol while he was running away from the restaurant. Police have found three bullets in the body of the murdered Pun.

Officials from the District Police Office including the chief of District Police, Rolpa, reached the murder site for investigation. The reason behind the murder is yet to be discovered.
