Speaking with reporters at Biratnagar on Friday, Paudel said that he was planning to file his candidacy for the post."Sushil Koirala will not file his candidacy," Paudel said, "I am planning to fight for the post."
"There will be a formal announcement on presidential candidates soon," Paudel added.
He also said that India is in favor of ending the current political deadlock in Nepal at the earliest. "I spoke with home and foreign ministers. They are in favor of ending the deadlock soon," he said.
He also said that he met Sadhbhawana Party chairman Rajendra Mahato during his India visit. "Mahato ji is also in favor of ending the deadlock through talks."
