Actress Surakshya Panta has become the first Nepali actress to walk the red carpet at the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival.
The Italian and Belgian film 'The Eight Mountains' starring her was premiered last night. This is the second film to be screened in the main competition of Palme d'Or.

Actors and crew, including director Felix Van Groeningen and Charlotte Vandermeersch, attended the premiere. Surakshya Panta, dressed in a red gown, looked attractive on the red carpet.
Panta arrived in France yesterday afternoon via Rome, Italy, to attend the Cannes. Panta also plays a major role in the film shooting which took place in the Himalayas of Nepal and Italy.
This time, Cannes has made two histories. First, the film 'Lori' has become the first Nepali film to be screened at Cannes. Second, Surakshya has become the first Nepali actress to walk on the Cannes red carpet.
25 movies are competing for the main category in the festival that runs for 12 days.
