Supreme Court stumbling block to Katunje road expansion

FRIDAY, Feb 7: The Supreme Court on Friday issued an interim order staying a planned demolition of over a dozen houses in Katunje of Bhaktapur district.

FRIDAY, Feb 7: The Supreme Court on Friday issued an interim order staying a planned demolition of over a dozen houses in Katunje of Bhaktapur district.


A joint bench of Justices Cholendra Shumsher JBR and Prakash Raut issued this order in the name of Suryabinayak Municipality and Division Road Office, Bhaktapur to this effect.

The houses in ward 5 of Suryabinayak Municipality were being demolished to widen the road. 


Earlier, on January 17, locals including Indira Neupane of Joshi Tole of Suryabinayak Municipality-5 had filed a writ petition at the SC after the respective ward office served them demolition notice.
