Out of the total, 88 petroleum tankers on Tuesday entered Nepal through the Biratnagar-Jogbani border checkpoint alone. The cargo comprises 22 petrol tankers, 51 diesel tankers, and 15 LPG bullets via Jogbani border, informed Biratnagar Customs Officer Rajendra Dhungana.A total of 211 cargo vehicles including petroleum tankers and LPG bullets have entered through Biratnagar customs checkpoints, according to Dhungana.
Meanwhile, Chief District Officer (CDO) Ganesh Raj Karki of Morang said that supplies of petroleum products have resumed without any obstruction.
"With the resumption of supplies, there will be sufficient amount of petroleum products in one or two days," Karki said.
Earlier, the imports through the Biratnagar customs had been stopped by the Indian authorities for the last three days citing insecurity to the drivers due to the ongoing demonstrations staged by the Madhesi protestors along the Biratnagar-Jogbani border. The Indian border security force had halted supplies to Nepal through the border checkpoint since the clash between Nepal Police and Madhesi agitators on Saturday.
Although the flow of supplies at different Nepal-India border checkpoints has normalized on Tuesday, leaders and cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have continued the blockade at other Nepal-India border checkpoints including Gaur-Bairgania, Jaleshwar-Bhittamod and Birgunj-Raxaul on Tuesday for the 21st consecutive day.
