Sunsari’s Krishna Basnet scored twice in the win. Basnet had given Sunsari the lead in the third minute following the Boys Union’s failure to clear the ball from a corner. He doubled the lead in the 37th minute, while Sujan Yatkha made it 3-0 in the 60th minute of the match.

Sunsari coach Shyam Shrestha said that the game became easier as they scored at the early stage of the match.

Shrestha said: “We played a defensive game at first, but it became easier as we scored early.”

Bharat Man Rai and Dipesh Ale Magar’s failure to score time and again was one of the reasons Boys Union lost the match.

Basnet, who scored a brace, was declared the man-of-the-match. He was rewarded with Rs 10,000 for his contribution.  Boys Union coach Suman Shrestha expressed his disappointment saying that they lost the match because of the misunderstandings between the players.

Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC), Armed Police Force (APF), Rupandehi XI, India’s United Kurseong Football Club, Morang XI, Birta United, Mission United Club, and the organizer Phidim Sporting Club are participating in the tournament. The winner will bag an award of Rs 300,000 while the runner-up will be prized with Rs 200,000.
