Suicide attempt in jail takes nasty turn

BHARATPUR, May 10: Situation took a nasty turn when a youth serving jail sentence in the prison of Area Police Office, Ratnanagar was found in a critical condition.


Police informed that Sameer Ghising, 24, of Kalika municipality-1, Suryapur on Thursday evening was found hanging in the restroom of the prison. Critically injured Ghising was rushed to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment, police shared. He is now being treated at Old Medical College under life support. Ghising's relatives along with locals had vandalized the police office in protest and enforced vehicular disruption along the East-West Highway.

In order to take the situation under control, police had opened 5-7 fires in the sky and also fired tear gas shells, informed Spokesperson of District Police Office, Chitwan and DSP Durga Raj Regmi. Police used force to bring back the highway operation into normalcy. Police also arrested over 15 people allegedly involved in vandalism. Ghising was arrested on a charge of theft on May 8.
