A press statement issued by the National Sports Council on Thursday states that special committee for inspection and evaluation has been formed under the coordination of Minister for Youth and Sports Purusottam Paudel. Secretary and joint secretary of the Ministry and Youth and Sports (MoYS) shall be the members of the committee. Similarly, disciplinary sub committee has been formed under coordination of NSC Member Secretary Keshav Kumar Bista.
Ganga Bahadur Thapa, Rabin Nagarkoti and Shiva Bahadur Shrestha are nominated the coordinators of the technical, event venue management and transportation management coordinators respectively. Similarly, Sakuntala Nagarkoti, Narayan Prasad Paudel, Surendra Hamal and Mohammad Sammiulah have been named as coordinators of publicity, health, resources mobilization and sports kits management sub committees.
The coordinators of lodging, securing and cultural sub committees are yet to be finalized. The coordinators of the committees shall pick members of the respective committees as per the requirements.
Meanwhile, the meeting also decided to organize regional sports meets on August 27 keeping in view the National Games. The office bearers of Eastern Region Sports Development Committee shall participate in the meet. Similarly, decision has also been made to call for proposal to design mascot, logo and sports sonf for the Games which shall feature 35 different events.
The opening ceremony of the game will be held at the Shahid Stadium of Itahari and closing ceremony at the ANFA ground in Dharan. Sunsari will host 15 different events followed by 13 in Morang. Similarly, five games will be held in Jhapa and one each in Siraha, Saptari and Ilam. The estimated budget for the Games is Rs 290 million out of which Ministry of Finance has already allocated 230 million and NSC has decided to ask for additional amount of Rs 60 million.
