Students withdraw transport strike in east

JHAPA, March 16: The Sanghiya Limbuwan Students’ Union has agreed to withdraw its pre-scheduled three-day district-wide transport strike.



The Union withdrew the transport strike that was to take effect from Tuesday at the request of three big parties.



All transport services have resumed in the district with the withdrawal of the transport strike. Vehicles operating on long and short distance routes from Jhapa have started operating.



President of the Sanghiya Limbuwan Students’ Union, Sanjeev Yongya said they decided to take back the transport strike after representatives of the Unified CPN (Maoist), the Nepali Congress and the CPN (UML) said they were serious regarding the demands put forth by the Union and were committed to address them.
