Star on top, Mahabir wins

KATHMANDU, Dec 4: Civil Mall Star Club defeated Boys Sports Club 2-1 on Monday to occupy top spot at least for 24 hours in the Martyrs Memorial Red Bull B Division League being held at Nepal Police Academy, Maharajgunj.



Following the fourth victory after the seventh match, Star came in first position with 13 points pushing behind leader Birgunj Youth Academy with 12 points to second spot. [break]



Kiran Dahal opened the scoring for Star in the sixth minute and Nirmal Dura doubled the advantage in the 56th minute. Ganesh Thakuri hit the consolation for Boys Sports in the 62nd minute.



Boys Sports is at the bottom of the table with one point. In another match, Mahabir Club defeated Sano Gaucharan 1-0 to register its first victory in the league after seven matches.



Ashok Gurung scored the lone goal 14 minutes from time. Mahabir climbed to 14th place with three points and Sano Gaucharan also has equal points.



Twin wins for Gyanodaya



Gyanodaya registered double victories Sunday in the Second Tenda AIA Inter-school Basketball Tournament. Gyanodaya won the junior boys´ and girls´ matches. [break]



In junior boys´ section, Gyanodaya thumped Occidental Public 16-6 riding on nine points of Ayush Shrestha.



Similarly, Gautami Bhattachan netted 10 points as Gyanodaya defeated KMC 22-10 in girls´ section. Valley Public beat Deneb 17-4  and TIA saw off Galaxy 21-18 in other matches in girls´ section.



Jenisa Gurung netted nine points for Valley Public and Riya Thapa also netted equal points for TIA. New Summit and Neric A also emerged victorious under junior boys´ section. 



Pushpanjali, Tipling into QFs



Pushpanjali and Tipling School of Dhading on Sunday secured quarterfinal berths in the 16th Father Moran Memorial Invitational Boys´ Football Tournament being held in the capital.



Pushpanjali edged past Rejina Emory´s 2-1. Suraj Lama and Amik Sunar netted one goal each for Pushpanjali while Kush Bahadur Bhujel scored for Rejina.



Tipling saw off Shuvatara 1-0 with a lone goal from Keman Tamang.



Nepal Armed Police Force (NAPF) which has already secured quarterfinal berth defeated Nepal Don Bosco 2-0. Santosh Bhatta netted both the goals for the winning side.    



Janashika victorious



Janashika School on Sunday emerged victorious in boys´ football during the 18th Eicher Gyan Carnival being held in the capital.



Janasikha registered a hard fought 1-0 win over GEMS during the match held at the host Gyanodaya´s ground Khokana.
