KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit Nepal in the first week of March, reported The Himalayan Times.

He will be the highest-level dignitary to visit Nepal from any country after the Maoist-led coalition government came into power. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal had invited President Rajapaksa to visit Nepal during the second BIMSTEC summit from November 11 to 13 in New Delhi.

According to the daily, this was confirmed by a source in the Sri Lankan Embassy, Kathmandu.

During his three-day visit, Rajapaksa is scheduled to visit Lord Gautam Buddha’s birthplace Lumbini and Swoyambhunath, a Buddhist shrine in Kathmandu, it said.
