Daffodil lift title
Daffodil School lifted the title of the girls´ basketball during the 17th Eicher Gyan Carnival on Sunday. Daffodil defeated Sridiwa 32-27 in the final match held at Gyanodaya School, Bungmati. Yanjin Lama contributed 11 points in Daffodil´s victory. In the boys´ basketball, Wilson Academy thrashed Galaxy 57-28 in the final to lift the title. Anil Pandey scored 16 points for the winning team. Samakhusi English Boarding School (SEBS) won the title of the junior boys´ volleyball defeating Deep Jyoti 21-25, 25-15, 25-21. Gurukul defeated hosts Gyanodaya 5-4 in penalty shootout in the boys´ football final.
Kumari clinch beach volleyball title
Kumari Bank clinched the title of the Fifth RSR Beach Volleyball Tournament on Sunday defeating Hotel Annapurna 22-20, 21-14. The tournament was held at Riverside Springs Resort, Kurintar. In the semifinals, Kumari beat defending champions Everest Bank and Annapurna saw off Nanglo Int´l of hosts RSR. Rabin Koirala of the runners-up won the best player award. NIC Bank took home the best team spirit award, Manish Shrestha of Nanglo Int´l was adjudged the most stylish player, Ncell and Sherpa Outdoors were declared the best dressed team award while the Everest Bank took the most athletic award. Altogether 18 teams competed in the three-day event that began Friday.
NSJF triumph
Nepal Sports Journalist Forum (NSJF) defeated Taekwondo Hollywood of USA 5-3 in a friendly football match played Sunday at the Armed Police Force (APF) ground, Halchowk.
Sudip Budhathoki netted two goals for NSJF after Bikram Thapa had put NSJF ahead and Prajeet Shakya added another. The other goal came as a gift for NSJF as Taekwondo Hollywood scored an own goal. Mathew Commerce, Upendra Dhital and Diwakar Dan Maharjan scored apiece for visiting side.
AJS Cup from Dec 15
Annal Jyoti Boarding School, Dholahiti is organizing the 10th Annal Jyoti Cup Inter-school Valley-wide Volleyball Tournament from December 15 to 18. The school organized a press conference on Sunday and informed that they have completed all the preparations for the tournament. The tournament includes boys´, girls´ and mini-volleyball events. The mini volleyball event allows participation of boys under 13 years or up to five feet tall.
