SPORTS BRIEFS: 25 DSPs promoted

KATHMANDU, Jan 4: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday promoted 25 DSPs to the post of SP.



Dilip Kumar Chaudhary topped the list of the promoted police officers. Others promoted to the post include Shailesh Thapa Kshetry, Niraj Shahi and Pradhumna Karki, among others. [break]



The promoted police officers belong to 98th batch of cadets.



Indian assistance to projects


KATHMANDU: Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of three development projects to be constructed under the Indian assistance worth Rs 104 million in Dhanusha district. According to a statement from the Indian embassy, the projects include development of Ranghabhumi Maidan, Gangasagar and Dhanushsagar, and construction of a school building in the district.



NWA leader dies



DHANGADI: Haripiya Bhandari, a central member of Nepal Women´s Association, died of thyroid ailment on Monday. She was 51. Her last rites were performed Monday afternoon. Earlier, Nepali Congress leaders and cadres had offered tribute to the deceased before her dead body was taken round Dhangadi bazaar. She is survived by two sons and two daughters.
