Speaking at the inaugural session of the two-day spectrum management workshop on Thursday in the capital, Sushil Ghimire, secretary of ministry of Information and Communications said spectrum management is not regional but a global problem. More so, in the case of developed countries”.[break]
The workshop is being organized by Asia Pacific Telecommunity along with Ministry of Information and Communication and Nepal Telecommunications Authority.
The chairperson of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority Bhes Raj Kandel informed the gathering that a new guideline related to allocations of spectrum among the telecommunication operators has been submitted to the ministry of information and communications.
“A proper spectrum management helps in business as well not just in regulation”, consultant of APT Mohamed Amir said. Similarly, senior advisor of economic development ministry of New Zealand Chris Perera the improper spectrum management may lead to frequency chaoss. She said, "Specturm management maximizes the benefits -- both economic and cultural -- further helping innovate wireless technology. “There is no specific solution for spectrum management as the methods differs in every country as per the basis of quality service, opportunity for innovation, utilization of spectrum in time and space etc,” she said.
ntaTwenty-four participants from nine countries have been participating in this program. The participants from Nepal represent all the mobile operators, NTA, civil aviation, home ministry and ministry of information and communications.
