The finale of the competition saw the bands Inflected, Baptizma and Sound Cuddles battle it out for the first position. The winners, “Sound Cuddles” won a cash prize of Rs 100,000 and the opportunity to launch their own music video.
Birat Shrestha, bass guitarist of ‘Sound Cuddles’ said, “Sprite Band Challenge served as an excellent platform to showcase our talent.”
“Our video is the outcome of months of hard work, and I hope Nepali music lovers will enjoy it,” he added.

Albatross at Republica CAN stall
Music lovers and readers of Republica English daily enjoyed a double bonanza at the CAN Info-Tech 2011 being held at Bhrikutimandap, Exhibition Road on Tuesday. New annual subscribers of Republica were gifted an MP4 player by the band members of the Nepali rock band Albatross with each subscription.
Excited subscribers were seen to be getting their notebooks autographed and interacting with one of Nepal’s most sought-after rock bands. The band includes Shirish Dali (vocals/guitars), Sunny Manandhar (guitars), Avaya Siddhi Bajracharya (bass) and Niraj Bajracharya (drums).
Albatross have been in the Nepali music scene since 1999 and although the band lineup has changed along the years, it has a loyal fan base. They recently released their third album, “Atti Bhayo”.
More celebrities will be making their presence at the Republica stall on Wednesday. Actors Reecha Sharma, Vinay Shrestha, Eelum Dixit and others from the team of Deepak Rauniyar’s first feature film, “Highway”, will be interacting with subscribers at the Republica stall in CAN Infotech.
