SOLUKHUMBU, Sept 29: The District Court, Solukhumbu has issued an order to release four people serving jail sentence for cow slaughter. 


A single bench of District Judge Narayan Prasad Subedi on Friday handed down the order to release Dawakaji Shrestha of then Chaurikharka VDC-8, Kulung Rai and Raja Prasad Rai of then Bung VDC and Hemant Rai of Nechasalyan rural municipality-2 of Solukhumbu district.

They were serving a 12-year sentence but were released in response to a writ filed demanding commuting of the sentence based on the new civil code that establishes the prison sentence to three years only, according to Nayab Subba at the Court Bhagiswar Saraili. 


They were arrested and jailed three years ago after being found guilty of stealing and slaughtering cow. RSS
