KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Nepal Army's helicopter originally en route to Rukum from Kathmandu with a medical team to aid earthquake victims, had to divert to Surkhet without landing at Chaurjahari.

Tej Bahadur Budathapa, the Acting Chief of Nepalgunj Airport, attributed this diversion to unfavorable weather conditions at Chaurjahari Airport.

Nepal Army's Sky Truck departed from Chaurjahari with a team of 14 health workers, eight from the Armed Police Force Hospital and six from Bir Hospital.

Summit Air also made an attempt to dispatch a flight from Nepalgunj to Chaurjahari, but was compelled to redirect to Simikot in Humla due to adverse weather conditions, as reported by Tej Bahadur Budtahapa. He further noted that private sector helicopters have yet to commence operations from Nepalgunj to the earthquake-affected areas.

Chaurjahari Airport currently lacks an Air Traffic Controller (ATC), and preparations are being made to send one from Nepalgunj.

One of the Nepali Army's helicopters reached the earthquake-affected area in the morning and subsequently returned to Nepalgunj. Furthermore, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal arrived in Jajarkot today via a Nepali Army helicopter. He received a briefing from the Chief District Officer and proceeded to conduct on-site monitoring.
