LAHAN, Nov 24: The dead body of a six-year-old girl, who was kidnapped from Bardibas-14 of Mahottari district, was found on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Gulab Shah Khatun, the daughter of Shahid Aalam, who had gone missing on Sunday evening. Her mortal remains were recovered from Bardibas-14. It was packed in a sack after a brutal murder and thrown in a bush, according to Mahottari Police Chief, Superintendent of Police (SP), Tika Bahadur KC.

The girl was killed after rape, according to the locals. “However, we have yet to confirm whether it is a case of rape and murder. We are waiting for the post mortem report,” said SP KC.

Police apprehended Arun Kumar Shah, 25, of Gaushala-5 on the charge of the murder on Monday evening. SP KC shared that the accused Shah has confessed to the killing.

The accused, who runs a shop at his Bardibas-based house, took control of the girl and hid her at his home. She had reached his shop to buy sweets. Preliminary investigation by the police suggests that accused Shah later killed the girl on Sunday evening and threw the dead body after wrapping it in the sack.

Shah, who was drunk on Monday evening, reached his home and revealed that he was the one to kill the girl. His family members handed him over to the Gaushala Police on Monday itself.

Locals torch Shah’s house

Meanwhile, infuriated locals torched the Bardibas-based house of accused Shah on Tuesday morning. As a huge crowd had gathered around Shah’s house,, the fire brigade could not reach the site, said SP KC. A huge number of security personnel have been deployed in the area to prevent the situation from going out of control.
