Sindhupalchowk bus accident update: The dead identified, injured undergoing treatment

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 19: The identity of two individuals who lost their lives in a bus accident in Sindhupalchok's Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality this morning has been ascertained. The bus was carrying attendees of a wedding procession.

SINDHUPALCHOWK, April 19: The identity of two individuals who lost their lives in a bus accident in Sindhupalchok's Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality this morning has been ascertained. The bus was carrying attendees of a wedding procession.


According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nirajan Bhattarai, information officer at the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, the deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Shiva Shrestha and 70-year-old Man Bahadur Thami, both from Bhimeshwar Municipality-1 in Dolakha. The identity of an 18-year-old male who also died in the accident has not yet been ascertained.

The bus (Ba 4 Kha 5616), which was en route to Piskar from Dolakha met with the accident at 7:20 this morning. Three individuals died on the spot in the bus accident.


DSP Bhattarai revealed that there were 55 passengers on the bus, including the groom. Among the remaining 52 passengers including the groom, seven are in critical condition. They were promptly transported to Sindhu Sadabahar Hospital in Khadichaur, where their treatment is underway. The police stated that based on their conditions, doctors may decide whether to refer them to other medical facilities.



Additionally, 45 injured individuals are receiving treatment at various healthcare institutions in Tripura. Following the treatment for minor injuries, arrangements are being made for their safe return home. The majority of the injured hail from Bhimeshwar Municipality-1 in Dolakha, with some from the neighboring villages.


The injured are Swasthani Tamang, Prakash Tamang, Gyan Bahadur Tamang, Dal Bahadur Tamang, Singh Bahadur Lama, Ishwar Thami, Laxman Thami and others. The police said that most of the injured had injuries on their heads, backs and limbs. The driver of the bus also sustained injuries.


The accident site is located 25 km south of Bahrabise Bazar. The bus, operated by Rolwaling Transport, veered off the unpaved and narrow road, plummeting 100 meters. Personnel from the Piskar Police Station, the local police office, and nearby residents made prompt rescue efforts to assist the injured.
