Sichuan Airlines to boost flight frequency in Nepal amid increasing demand

KATHMANDU, July 31: Chinese airline company Sichuan Airlines has announced plans to expand its regular flight operations in Nepal, aiming to offer a total of 7 flights per week starting from the last week of August. The airline had resumed regular flights back in March and currently operates four flights weekly on the Kathmandu-Chengdu route.

KATHMANDU, July 31: Chinese airline company Sichuan Airlines has announced plans to expand its regular flight operations in Nepal, aiming to offer a total of 7 flights per week starting from the last week of August. The airline had resumed regular flights back in March and currently operates four flights weekly on the Kathmandu-Chengdu route.


As per the official General Sales Agent, Society International, Sichuan Airlines has decided to increase flight frequency in response to growing passenger demand. Anticipating a rise in Chinese tourists visiting Nepal from September, the company is eager to cater to the increasing influx of travelers. Additionally, there has been a noticeable surge in Nepali businesspersons traveling, further motivating the airline to enhance its services.

Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sichuan Airlines used to operate four weekly flights to Kathmandu, and it has also been exploring the possibility of introducing regular flights from the Pokhara Regional International Airport.


With the COVID-19 situation under control, China has reopened its borders, leading to the resumption of regular flight operations between Kathmandu and various Chinese cities. Airlines like China Himalaya, China Southern, Air China, Tibet Air, and now Sichuan Airlines have been facilitating regular travel between the two countries, facilitating tourism and business exchanges.
