According to Gokarna´s Golf Director Deepak Acharya, the tournament carries exciting prizes for the winner, runner-up, ladies´ winner, ladies´ runner-up, senior winner (age 60 and above), best gross, junior winner, longest drive, closest to the pin and most birdies. "To add excitement, there would be a Ducati bike as the prize for a hole in one," said Acharya.
Acharya claimed that the tournament is one of the best amateur tournaments in the country. "It is a good tournament in terms of prizes though the prize money does not exceed the ceiling set for amateur tournaments. On the other hand, we have been surprised by the huge number of requests for participation in this tournament," said Acharya. However, he informed that the tournament would be strictly an invitational tournament.
Shikhar Insurance CEO Deep Prakash Pandey said the company was encouraged to continue the tournament following the responses of golfers in the last edition. "It´s an amateur tournament as a way for business promotion. Meanwhile, we´ll definitely go for a professional event in the upcoming season," said Pandey.
Shikhar Insurance Marketing Consultant Bhupal Bhakta Shrestha said the tournament also aims to establish relations between sports and health sectors. "We sell health insurance policies and we want to establish the idea that sports is essential for good health," said Shrestha.
