Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center offers 12 hours of surgical services from today

KATHMANDU, July 16: The Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center in Bansbari will be offering 12 hours of surgical services, starting today.

This extension of operating hours is in response to the growing number of patients needing surgeries. 

Dr Ramesh Koirala, chief of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department, has announced that surgeries will now be conducted from 8 AM to 8 PM, starting from July 16, 2024.

Dr Koirala indicated that the decision to extend the surgical hours was made due to the high volume of patients, as it was not feasible to perform more than two surgeries in one theater.

Currently, the hospital is performing 6-7 surgeries daily across three operation theaters. 

To accommodate the extended hours, arrangements have been made from 7 AM to 9 PM for nursing staff and other employees. Additionally, the hospital has formed three units to ensure the smooth flow of operations and OPD services.
