KATHMANDU, Dec 14: The exhibition ‘Shades of Hues’ featuring artworks of 22 artists from Nepal and India kicked off at Nepal Art Council, Baber Mahal on Sunday.
The exhibit has works of as many as four Nepali artists and 18 Indian artists on display. The artworks are related to culture, daily life, landscape and spirituality, among others. The Indian artists have depicted their culture and daily life, among others, in their creations using oil and acrylic colors. Using mix-media, Birendra Verma has created Ganga Ghat of Banaras, India in various hues.
The reality of multi-colored hues
Meanwhile, Nepali artists have focused on nature and culture along with spirituality using acrylic, watercolor and pencil. Nepali artist Jitendra Lama has created lakhey dance in his painting where the vibrancy of the dance has been depicted through hues like red, blue and yellow. Justifying the title of the exhibition, one can get to see the shades of Nepal and India along with the similarities and differences in lifestyle in these neighboring countries.
The exhibition is being organized by Indian curator Amrita Prakash, and it is slated to continue till Friday.
