KATHMANDU, July 4: A security personnel on duty at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu allegedly shot himself dead in an apparent bid of suicide on Monday morning.

KATHMANDU, July 4: A security personnel on duty at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu allegedly shot himself dead in an apparent bid of suicide on Monday morning.


Sources familar with the development said the deceased has been identified as a 32-year old security guard Deepak Singh. He allegedly shot himself with his own rifle.

The body has been sent to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, for postmortem. The incident occurred at around 9 AM. The reason behind his decision to shoot himself dead is not known.


Sources said the Indian Embassy is conducting an internal investigation into the incident as it took place on its premises. There has not been any official confirmation about the incident yet.
