KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Security expert Chiran Jung Thapa has stated that Nepal is the largest net contributor to the global security architecture, as it has directly contributed to the security arrangements of five nuclear states.

Delivering his personal viewpoints at the 'Chanakya Dialogue,' an international security program held recently in New Delhi, Thapa, as the keynote speaker, made this claim.

According to him, Nepal is contributing to the security architecture of 68 other countries around the world, with thousands of Nepalese serving in the maritime domain to ensure the safety of shipping lanes. It is the second-largest troop-contributing country for the UN Peacekeeping Mission. In total, Nepal's contribution to the global security architecture remains unmatched.

While congratulating India on the successful organization of the G-20 summit, he questioned why Nepal was not included in the summit. He also praised India for its recent successful launch of 'Chandrayaan' and its rise in the ranks of great space powers.

"Since Chanakya’s Arthashastra is a strategy for acquiring and retaining power, it is relevant to discuss power. First, power has never been a permanent feature of any state or society, as even empires have risen and fallen, and some have disappeared altogether," he argued.

As he mentioned, Nepal continues to be a significant contributor to both the security and economy of India, with the Gurkha regiment comprising 40,000 troops and another 50,000 in various security services. Additionally, there are 30,000 serving in administrative roles.

He emphasized the need to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral ties between the two countries.

The event was inaugurated by Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and attended by senior military officers from various countries worldwide. Working papers on various topics related to security, diplomatic relations in Asia, and other nations were presented and discussed during the event.
