Second dose of HPV vaccine against cervical cancer being administered in various provinces

KATHMANDU, March 20: The government has started administering the second-does of HPV vaccine against cervical cancer.


According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the vaccine was initially administered to 14-year-old teenagers in mid-September. As the second dose is recommended after a gap of 6 months, the administration of the second dose begins today.

The MoHP has urged girls who received the first dose to bring their vaccination cards and visit the respective hospitals to receive the second dose.


The vaccination is scheduled to take place today at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar in Koshi Province, Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences in Gandaki Province, Narayani Hospital in Birgunj in Madhesh Province, and Provincial Hospital Surkhet in Karnali Province. In Bagmati Province, the vaccination will be conducted tomorrow at the Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital in Kathmandu, and at Dadeldhura Hospital in Sudurpaschim Province on March 28. Vaccination in Lumbini Province was carried out on Tuesday.
